Protect Children & Oppose Gender Based Violence
Lifeline is a founding member of Coalition for the Protection of Children & Youth, a Non Government Organization (NGO). This organization has become a well-known voice standing up for victims of child sexual abuse and campaigning for changes in the law and proper court procedures.
Funded by the British High Commission and the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives, Lifeline conducts training for victim supporters and facilitates support groups for women and girls collaborating with the Dominica National Council of Women. |
Recently, in concert with Peaced Together UK, another member of the Lifeline Network International, we have introduced the "Peace Together Training" which equips leaders of women's groups across the country to use journaling and handcraft to help women heal. Their slogan the "Broken is not garbage." ...is key, as generations of women who have experienced abuse find their voices to break the silence.
In collaboration with the National Youth Council, Lifeline has provided a portal for survivors to share their stories, some of which can be seen on Embrace Dominica. |
Part of 16 Days of Activism, an international campaign to end violence against women and children.* This 5 part collection appears on the website, Embrace Dominica. |
*Lifeline is an ardent supporter of Leve Domnik's new advocacy movement in providing opportunities for survivors of sexual abuse and assault to tell their stories anonymously and encouraging others to break the silence.
