What We Do

Support Environmental Sustainablity
Picture
Lifeline partners with Ecobalance in Corona and STARs Cooperative in Castle Bruce where we have seen agricultural and environmental projects funded.

We also have several projects mitigating the effects of climate change and promoting the use of alternative energy and Eco tourism.

The Australian High commission has assisted the STARS Cooperative through Lifeline and have helped this community chicken farmers recover from the ravages of Tropical Storm Erica.

Sustainablity Programs & Efforts on Dominica

  • STARS - This local cooperative raising chickens pigs and producing organic vegetables in a greenhouse enjoys a great collaborative relationships with Lifeline where we assist with monitoring and evaluation and project proposal development.

  • Sustainable Living Initiative Centre (SLIC)  Lifeline is a founding member of this recently revived organization where we explore and encourage projects mitigating the effects of climate change and promoting the use of alternative energy and Eco tourism. SLIC was first established in 2005; its principal purpose was to educate Dominicans as to the value of a sustainable lifestyle and to offer practical training in specific practices designed to reduce climate change and pollution of the environment. Since 2005 SLIC has conducted workshops and has successfully installed hydro, wind and solar energy generation equipment and adapted diesel engines to run on vegetable oil. We taught general organic vegetable farming and eco friendly living practices.

  • Ecobalance -  - This Family based NGO is part of an Organic Farm and Campsite project and collaborated with Lifeline in developing an Eco Education programme funded by UNDP
